Unhappy Cannot access o2 site from network PC's

    Hi

    I have a weird problem.

I cannot access the o2 website from the 3 PC's on my home network or log into the o2 email via Outlook Express!

I have recently moved from BT internet to o2 and installed o2 stuff on 09/06/09.
I bought a new phone and was logging in/out of o2 most of the weekend before sorting out my bluebook on 6 & 7/06/09.
This weekend I installed Nortons 360 on my laptop and my PC but my husbands still has the old systemworks.

I connect via ethernet cable to o2 box III and my husband connects via a USB thingy and my laptop has a built in wireless card.

My outlook express will receive emails from my old BT account email address but wont send and the new o2 email address wont send or receive emails. The BT email address may have stopped sending as I've left them. [The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'O2 Email', Server: 'smtp.o2.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E]

It's as if my o2 box wont allow any of us to log into the website. We can get the home page but as soon as we try to log in we get a message "oops this link appears to be broken".

    So far I've tried :-

Disabling the Nortons 360 firewall - no change
Disabling the Nortons Security - no change
Deleting all of my internet history - no change

I can log in from work so the site's OK.

My IE has been crashing a fair bit over the last few weeks and I updated it yesterday with the latest version but it still doesn't help.

    Any ideas?????????

Have you tried contacting O2 at all or consulting the support pages here.

    Help - O2

Or can you not see those either?

I used your link and after about 3 minutes I got a very basic screen of options (kind of without the background etc. of o2 options) and then the same message [Oops! This link appears to be broken.]

I rang them when the email didn't work and that's when I found out I couldn't go to their website as they'd asked me to log in to change my password as that's why they thought I couldn't send/receive any emails. They said "nothing to do with us - it's PC issue".

    Mmmm

When you joined them they should have sent you details of how to configure your POP3 and SMTP settings.

We have three issues in one here Tracy so this is gonna take some time.

First of all I suggest you uninstall Norton 360 and I would ask if you have all windows updates ie, Service Pack 3 etc.

McAfee seems to be bundled with that deal so why did you chose Norton?

When I installed the o2 box it automatically set up my email for o2 as part of the initial load and the o2 techy guy checked what was typed in where which is how we arrived as a possible password problem as everything seemed OK.

My PC automatically downloads all windows critical updates and I just choose when to install them so I've got service pack 3.

I've always had Nortons because it's a name I recognised. I chose 360 as my laptops Systemworks expired last week or so and the update was £40 for one PC and I have 3 so I thought I'd change to 360 as it has 3 licences for £55. My systemworks didn't expire until August but I thought I'd update my PC now as it seemed fine on the laptop (ha ha).

My husband still has Systemworks and he can't see o2 either?

I'm concerned I wont be protected if I uninstall it.

Ok lets get back to basics ok and concentrate on the main box that is hard wired to the router yes?

Does that connect to O2 ok?

Let's just forget about any other laptops or phones etc for the time being as this is a mess.

The router is connected by an ethernet cable to my PC which is the main one.

I can access facebook, amazon and other websites etc. but cannot log into the o2 website

Can you let us know the make and model of router O2 has supplied.

    Looking at your first post,

    Socket Error: 10061
It seems either your computer cannot reach the mail server, or the server is down.

Your security may have something to do with this. Can you remove the Norton installation from the one computer, and just use it to troubleshoot with.

Once removed, download and run this tool.

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to remove your Norton 2006 product or later version

Reboot and try to connect to your email, and the O2 site.

If you cannot connect can you post the error messages.

    Thanks.

Aplogies for not having logged on before to update you.

I've solved my problem after almost uninstalling the newly installed Nortons and o2 broadband software

A work colleague I spoke to mid week about how frustrating the problem was said "I wonder if your router has cache that needs clearing? although I've never heard of it before"

I just installed a networked hard drive yesterday and noticed the reset button at the back of the router and thought "why not, it can't hurt to try".

Anyway it worked I can go to o2 and log in and my email has started working properly too.

So a big THANK YOU for your help anyway!
