Printer does not Power Up

I have an Epson Stylus CX6600 all in one printer and it has been taking longer to power up each time I switch everything on. I have been blaming the 4way plug it draws power from for poor contact but that has checked out alright. I have checked the supply cable with a meter and it has continuity. I have pressurized the 'plug' into the back of the printer assuming it might be having contact problems there. But it will not power up now at all . I'm just wondering if there is a weakness or frequent fault with these models that someone has already highlighted.

Not familiar with the printer in question but if it has been taking progressively longer to "power up" and now is dead in the water so to speak it sounds like it could be a power supply problem.

Yes not a great deal of use. It ends by saying contact Epson tech service peeps. I may have to do that after I have lifted the bonnet so to speak to see if there is anything obvious- but feel by the way it went slowly that it may be a software prob in the printer.

None what-so-ever. I do know that power is coming out of the 4way outlet by inserting a radio door bell and operating it. Also that the mains lead has continuity from 13amp wall plug to printer insert end. Perhaps tomorrow I'll lift the lid and see what I can see. Or perhaps stick the meter inside the printer end of the lead to prove volts are getting there. Hmmmm.... I wonder what other mains item I might have that takes that size plug?

I've just tried that lead on SWMBO's bedside cd/radio and it works fine. There was no crackling or stopping playing when I pressurized the position of the plug in its socket. It looks like the fault is in the printer.

Hi Jim, from the checks you have done it does look like all leads are OK, so the only thing now is a look inside the printer itself. As soon as the lid is off, have a good sniff, any smell of burning at all means the likely end of the internal power supply. But if not, there just may be an internal fuse fitted which could have blown.

Ok got the lids off today and no smell of anything burnt. But we have such a lot of things to accomplish that SWMBO would rather I spend that time reaching goals/objectives around the house. Looking at the price of printers I throw my hands in the air and agree. so this will go to the recycle pile tomorrow. I'd love to sort it though.....
