Default Re: Internet Explorer updates ...

I do not use Internet Explorer as a browser - it's used only for Microsoft downloading updates to my computer.

Just wondering if the upgrade to Internet Explorer Version 7 is really necessary (computer keeps popping up a window wanting to install it) - or is Version 6 fine for what it's used for?

(A 'friendly' swears the update messed up her computer - and now that mine is running beautiful, thought I'd ask for an expert opinion before letting it install).

Thanks so much,
Mara

Hi Mara

I have Internet Explorer 7 and i have not had any problems. Internet Explorer 6 should be fine for just updating windows. The reason Microsoft wants to install 7 is becuase it is a more secure browser than 6.

Personally i prefer Internet Explorer 7.

You can also hear what the others reccommend.

Hi Mara;
It won't mess up your computer and I would install it if I were you. It's more secure. But if all you do is use it to update Windows IE6 will do fine. But you might actually like it if you try it.

Not an expert opinion but it is recommended to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7. It is a great improvement over its predecessor and is advanced both in its features and security. Install it and you will not regret it.

How reassuring to know that the update won't cause hiccups with the computer - thanks ever so much to all of you once again and I'll install it right now.
