Hi All
hve tried to upgrade from a P4 2.4 to a 3.06 ( my motherboard supports this Asus p4s8x-x ) installed the chip ( brought used on ebay ) and all i get is a wee- wooa s warning sound , no boot up or screen , one friend suf=geested the lates bios from Asus , but that frankly scares me !!!
and ideas please

your friend could be right..
the latest bios for your board is here http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/c...&model=P4S8X-X
read how to flash the bios then read again just to make sure....
flashing the bios is not hard at all...i can see it being a little scary i was scared when i did my first.
if i can help you or guide you through it let me know....
asus may use a flash bios utilty that is ran from within windows..these are the easiest.
