Default FSB compatibility

Hi,

I was just wondering if a processor has a higher FSB than the motherboard, will it work?
(e.g. Processor FSB - 1300 Motherboard FSB - 1066)
I was just wondering because a friend asked me because he is thinking of building a PC, but he was unsure about compatibility.

It depends - normally you would have to OC the MOBO and some MOBO's are frankly rubbish at OC'ing.
Have a look at the MOBO website as there may be a BIOS update to support the higher FSB
