Operating System: Windows Vista - Home Basic
PC Experience: Beginner
Default Wireshark
hello

I installed the latest version of Wireshark on Vista SP1
The following dialog box appears when Wireshark starts:
The NPF driver isn't running. You may have trouble capturing and listing interfaces.
winpcap is installed.

How do I solve this?

I'm a little puzzled as to why someone running Vista Basic and proclaiming to be a beginner in experience terms would want to download such a complicated program such as this.

Is it possible you could enlighten us please.

It seems that the error is caused due to lack of Administrative privileges.

CaptureSetup/CapturePrivileges

Try and see if it helps or not. Good Luck.

By the way, I agree with Wolfey here. It seems that you know very much about Networking to use such a complex program.
