Operating System: Windows XP - Professional PC Experience: Some Experience | Well i've done some search around the internet and so far I really haven't been able to find anything thats solved my problem. So i'm hoping I can find an answer. About a year ago I would say, I started having problems with my USB mouse. It would randomly just lock up and I was unable to do anything with it until I restarted my computer. Since then it's happened many times, but at random times. There might be months that nothing happens and then all of a sudden it locks up several times each day for awhile. When it first started happening I figured it was just my ol' Logitech G5 goin out from all those years of use. So I decided to swap it out for a fairly new gaming mouse I had lying around the house which was also USB. At first I thought it fixed the problem but once again the locking happened. I then got out an old PS2 ball mouse and plugged it in. I used it for about a day and didn't seem to have any problems. So it seems to be something with the USB mice. A few things I would like to note are that even though it random locks up I have noticed over time it tends to lock up a lot more when i'm playing a game and just recently i've been trying to think of what else might cause it to lock and think it also locks when the computer is under high memory stress. Another thing is that the lights on the mouse continue to remain on while the movement just doesn't work. One other thing is that I also have a USB keyboard and although my mouse is locked my keyboard works without a problem at all. Thanks for your time and hopefully I can find a fix to this problem. Hopefully it will be good news and something fixable. Although bad news like bad USB slots or something might kinda suck. But I just want an answer. I can't take it any longer. |

Operating System: Windows XP - Professional PC Experience: Some Experience | The only one I see in device manager is one under Other Devices and it is for "Multimedia Audio Controller". Another thing I guess I should mention is that I currently don't have the software installed for the mouse I am using. But I would also like to say that with the G5 mouse I have I used it for like two or three years and never had the mouse software installed and never ran into a single problem. Only when the problem first appeared did I install mouse software and it still didn't help. As well as the mouse disconnecting. Another problem I have with it is that every once and awhile the mouse speed changes and either becomes slower "Razr" or faster "G5". They both have sensitivity buttons built into them and something might be conflicting with them. But i'm for sure it's not me hitting them. |
