Am having trouble burning on too a extenal drive on one of the P4s, the other p4 burns no problems.

I have checked the setting on both and they are the same.

The error message I get is (Media not supported)

I will look forward to your reply

Hello and weicome to FreePCHelp.

Without researching it, the only thing I can think of is that you're using the wrong type CD or DVD. However, you said that you can burn with one machine, so that would rule out using the wrong type disk. What are you using? CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW?

hi, thanks for the welcome and for the very quick reply. :-)

Am using DVD-R which is fine on the other pc (p4)

For some reason the other P4 will not let me burn onto cd or dvd.

I think maybe the setting are wrong but have not got a clue where to look on the pc.

I have checked the Nero settings.

The drive is a sony nec Extenal Optiarc model AD 7200A if that helps

You may need a firmware update - go to the manufactures website and see if there are any available

When do you get the Media not supported error? When you insert a CD or DVD or both?

Does is read CD/DVD's or does this only happen when you are trying to burn CD/DVD's?

Default Disk Drive Problems

I get the Media not supported error only when trying to burn a dvd. Also it does not play dvd's, BUT the drive does play music cd's and other cd are fine.
I have double checked that the drive is a dvd rewiter and it is,this is all very strange indeed. I hope you can help.

Mike

See if it burns a Data DVD using a different burning program (Deep Burner Free)

DeepBurner
