Operating System: Windows Vista - Ultimate PC Experience: Very Experienced | Your best bet is to upgrade your memory and see if that helps. If it does not I suggest to reinstall Vista.
Go to the Samsung folder in your All Programs menu and see if you have the option to create a set of DVD's to reinstall Vista.
If not try and press F4 at the BIOS screen to launch the recovery solution. If that works choose a complete recovery not basic. IMPORTANT: Backup all your files, bookmarks etc. first as all data will be lost.

Operating System: Windows Vista - Home Premium PC Experience: Too much! | You can install Vista via the procedures mentioned, then install more ram.

Operating System: Windows Vista - Ultimate PC Experience: Very Experienced | Thanks for verifying the installation procedure Seth. Samsung support is really poor.
However if zism's RAM specs are correct he definitely needs to upgrade even if the reinstallation helps.

Operating System: Windows Vista - Home Premium PC Experience: Too much! | No prob.
It seemed like zism thought it was necessary to increase the ram before performing the recovery.

Operating System: Windows Vista - Home Premium PC Experience: Pc Guru | There are less likely to be 'problems' i.e boot up issues etc with the RAM if it is added after the reinstall.

Operating System: Windows Vista - Home Premium PC Experience: Pc Guru | If you unscrew the plate underneath the laptop the RAM will be in there - there will be a sticker on it telling you the speed and the SIZE of the RAM - eg 512MB SODIMM PC6400 (800MHz) (this is an example only)
and then you just match another stick to that.

Operating System: Windows XP/Vista PC Experience: As Good As Everyone Else | the samsung r20 uses this type of ram when it leaves the factory (unless changed by another user).DDR2 SoDIMM Non-ECC PC2-5300.
you can go on the Crucial web site and order ram from them if need be...they say they garantee 100% compatibility.
regards
danzil.

Operating System: Windows Vista - Home Premium PC Experience: PC Illiterate | I am extremely wary of reinstalling vista, will it be okay to upgrade my RAM first to see if that helps, without then hopefully having to reinstall vista |

Operating System: Windows Vista - Home Premium PC Experience: Too much! | There is no need to be wary of installing Vista. The whole process is automatic and it's exactly what you need to do.
Although some extra ram will speed things up a bit, the "Extreme Slowness" is not due to insufficient ram.
