Operating System: Windows XP - Home Edition PC Experience: Some Experience | PLEASE SOME1 I NEED HELP I AM LOSING SLEEP Ok so here it is. I have been using a dual display set up for a few years now, but lastweek decided to update my motherboard and processor, (was this a bad idea, i ask myself). So my setup has 2 monitors 1 being an old Relysis monitor(VGA connected) the other being the TV (S-Video connected). So after replacing my bits i set the machine up all ready to go tried to turn on the TV though display properties as i have done for so many years now. And nothing, it appears that my s-video port does not recognise that there is a cable plugged into it. Now i have done a few checks obviously cables all work (i have checked with laptop) the TV works as well. Now i am using an ATI Radeon 9800 PRO graphics card which surports S-Video (i know it does coz it was working last week) i am also reasonably familiar with display properties, advance display properties and also Catalyst control centre but can i find out how to activate my S-Video. I believe it might have something to do with my BIOS settings for more info on my system please check: CPU-Z Validator 3.1 If some1 out can help me before i go into my fourth sleepless day i will be so so happy Cheers Gazza |

Operating System: Windows Vista - Ultimate PC Experience: I Try My Best. | Hello there. The first thing you should do is reinatsll the graphics card drivers. Reinstall ATI Catalyst. Then configure the card via windows and ATI Catalyst. Graphics Drivers & Software JB.

Operating System: Windows XP - Home Edition PC Experience: Some Experience | Its good idea but I have already tried that a couple of times now. Do you think that bios could be telling my machine that it does not have a s-video port Cheers Gazza |

Operating System: Windows XP - Home Edition PC Experience: Some Experience | no problem any time you give me is very genourous, thanks for your help so far. I read in a similar link that i had to reinstall all drivers for the card with my language settings in U.S. so i tried this but it still didnt work. I am using "american megatrends inc. version 07.00t" bios and was looking for a manual online to see if it was something in there, like i was saying i am convinced it is a bios setting, but i am struggling to find even that. The only other thing i can think is tat i damaged the card during installing to the new motherboard. Cheers Anyway |

Operating System: Vista, XP, Ubuntu PC Experience: A Fair Bit | Hi Gazza, Have you tried forcing detection using catalyst control centre? I believe it is under the 'Display options section', with a check box that reads 'Force TV detect' The BIOS shouldn't be a problem here, it will be your graphics settings in windows.

Operating System: Windows Vista - Ultimate PC Experience: I Try My Best. | No the Catalyst is just an updated redesigned version. Have you now tried to configoure via windows and ATI Catalyst. Possibly lower or higher resolutions.

Operating System: Windows XP - Home Edition PC Experience: Some Experience | tried setting it up in both windows and catalyst at every different available resolution, tried doing both at the same time incase there was a confliction between them but still no joy. I was wondering if you think the rather large axe i have might help you know if in doubt hit it. No only joking but i am sure you understand wot this is doing to my mind |

Operating System: Windows Vista - Ultimate PC Experience: I Try My Best. | I do understand it is annoying you big time. Do you get a message on the screen at all as in TV? Have you tried diffrent cables and double check they are fully seated? Does the TV have another connection you could use? What happens if you disconnect the monitor and only use the TV then restart?

Operating System: Windows XP - Home Edition PC Experience: Some Experience | Dont get anything on tv at all not even thhe slight discolouration like i get when i plug my laptop in before i put it on dual screen. Tried 2 different 4-pin s-video to 4-pin s-video they both work fine with the laptop also i have tried AV2S and AV3S on the TV bot work fine with the laptop, but nothing will work whilst i am using the PC The bit that really frustrates me is before i changed the case, processor and motherboard it all bloody worked. |

Operating System: Windows Vista - Ultimate PC Experience: I Try My Best. | Wizards— use the simple ATI Catalyst Control Center Wizard to configure PC or HDTV display settings, 3D settings, and video settings in just a few simple steps. Display Management— easily configure displays for optimal viewing, including multiple display configurations (extended, spanning, cloning if supported by the operating system) on every type of display (CRT, LCD, DFP, TV, HDTV). Drive up to three PC displays simultaneously with ATI SurroundView™. It maybe the issue you are using the newer version have you tried an older version? TweakGuides.com - ATI Catalyst Tweak Guide Have you tried: Go to control panel > display settings, are you using Advanced options? there you can activate the second screen, that is, your tv screen. Do you gave Crossfire turned off ?

Operating System: Windows Vista - Ultimate PC Experience: I Try My Best. | Ok lets go back to basics. What is the exact make and model of your mainboard you aquired? What is the exact make and model of graphics card? Lets see if we can look into this more closely? Ok could you check internaly that you have connected any cables required to the GPU.

Operating System: Windows XP - Home Edition PC Experience: Some Experience | "It maybe the issue you are using the newer version have you tried an older version?" Of which bit i have tried many different versions of ATI Catalyst from 6.2 to 9.3.1 owever 9.7 didnt recognise the device "Do you gave Crossfire turned off ?" I am only using 1 graphics card so wont crossfire be automatically turned off or unavailable either way i dont know, i will look for that in 1 mo Going though the display settings from control panel and then into the advance tab is where i got o before when i couldnt even get the card to recognise that it had someting pluged in then i put on force detect which would allow me to change the tv settings in control panel > display > settings > advance > displays but still i have no joy |
