I just checked your specs and I see no compatability issue between the card and the mainboard.

You have plugged in the power supply to the graphics card internaly?

Let me see who I can get to help with this issue for you.

Hi gazza,

Do you normally have both monitors switched on and connected before powering up your PC - if not try doing it that way.

I've had a good look around using Google and one working suggestion is this

1) Uninstall drivers and turn off PC.
2) Connect monitor to the dvi (if you have one) using an vga-dvi adapter.
3) Reboot in VGA mode.
4) Reinstall the latest Radeon drivers
5) Reboot normally.

Its not a perfect solution, but give it a try.

i have both the monitor and tv switced on and connected b4 turning on the pc and have tried pluggong them in after as well and then activating them but still i got no joy this way.

My monitor has a built in VGA out and my TV is connected by S-Video, i do not have a dvi connector of any sort so i can not check this solution thanks anyway TooTech

I would be happy if i could get just the tv working and not themonitor you see i am in the land of just gone digital and could not really afford a new tv with digital. So i went out and bought an inexpensive digital tv turner card "HypemediaCentre" which worked lovely with my set up before, but since the change to my motherboard, i dont have any tv at all and i cant even watch downloads or iplayers or even DVDs since all these function though my PC.

I could use my monitor for all those functions but the screen is a little green and facing away from the rest of the lounge so it would not allow me and the rest of the household to enjoy a movie whilst we have dinner

Your graphics card shows me you have a DVI port,the white port.You can buy adaptors to convert VGA to DVI and DVI to VGA.They are around £3-00.

Now you say your monitor is a little green?

So what you are saying is the monitor screen when on shows a green tint to it?

Could you borrow a monitor off a friend or neigbour and connect it to your computer,does the friends monitor showup a green tint also?

You bought a new mainboard or was this second hand from some were like eBay?

Did you update the BIOS of this mainboard?

Have you installed the latest chipset and drivers from the manufacturers website?

I know a lot of questions we are just trying to rule out or rule in an issue.

Gaz I just looked further into your graphics card and it appears to of been produced some were around 2003.

It is a rather old card and maybe damaged or failing.

I think you maybe looking at buying a new graphics card.

No i have checked other monitors it is just mine that it a little green completey seperate issue involving me the monitor and a set of stairs, i must stress though this was an accident i am not usually a violent guy.
I hope that clears up my green monitor issue
The mainboard i bought was second hand and off of my neighbour my normal PC guru "but i dont think he will talk to me after this" well i have been making plenty brews and sandwiches whilst he has been at it scratching his head.
I believe he has installed all the lastest drivers and chipsets from the manufactors website.
I have been looking at updating the bios but not too sure wot to look for, i am using AMI BIOS version 3.31a i think dont know if that helps

Gaz does your mate have a spare graphics card with s-vid he could popin and try and test the TV on?

If he has a spare card you can borrow for a few minutes then this may again rule in or rule out your grahics card.

Hinto not feed visitors they will never leave or take there time at the job in hand.

I am a beliver if a visitor calls and I do not want them to stay long I NEVER offer them a cup of tea or coffee.

But i feel bad he has spent a lot of time on this i would have made you guys all brews by now if i didnt think they would be cold by the time you got them
He does have a spare graphics card we tried this morning but when we went to plug the s-video 4-pin cable in i realised it was an s-video 10-pin (vivo connector) which unfortunatly does not fit a 4-pin cable
so that was that plan out of the window.

Ok does he have a PCI tester card?

This is a PCI card that is placed into PCI slots and it tests the slot to see if it is good or faulty?

No but he does have my old motherboard and processor so i am going to try and reinstall everything on that in a bit to if that works that way i can eliminate if it is a problem with the card or not.

If that fails then i dont know - a new graphics card will be the next solution.

Good idea there Gaz.

I am still working on trying to find a fix but getting no were fast.

I am actualy helping some one esle with similar issues to yours and he is trying what we have posted for you.

I have seen S-video ports burn out before. They can be fragile, a Radeon X1650 of mine had this happen to it. If you have tried with other cables and are at the stage of replacing your whole motherboard to troubleshoot it, then this might be what's happened to it.

Unfortunately I don't think that updating your bios will fix anything, as the bios should only govern any onboard graphics chips, not a separate, discrete graphics card like a 9800.

What inputs does your TV have at the back of it? There may be an alternative way to connect the computer up without the S-video.

We have S-video x 2, Scart x 2, and a coax ariel in. My TV is old.
However bigger problems have arisen.
Motherboard swap didnt help the old motherboard didntwork at all so tried to reinstall windows and managed to just about get it into safe mode. Gave up on that a moved back to the newer motherboard did a quick rebuild and reinstalled wwindows xp and whenit did its first restart booted backup and crashed now i get nothing more than safe mode if i try anything else it crashes
