Operating System: Windows XP - Home Edition PC Experience: Beginner | Hi, Have purchased World in Conflict. Has installed fine but then every time I try to run it it gets to first screen, I press play and then I get returned to desktop with fatal error message "insufficent memory to run application, please close other programmes and try again" and machine loses most of its desktop graphics. I easily meet the minimum requirements and played the demo fine. I am running Windows XP Home edition, 4GB of ram, 3.06Ghz, Nvidia 9600 GT, 100Gb hard drive. Have obviously closed most of the obvious superfluous programmes in task manager. Have installed all patches, new drivers, configured my memory with Cacheman. I even swopped out the new memory for the old 1gb memory and no difference. The game's help forum is worththan uselss and countless people are having this problem. PC ran other demanding software such as Far Cry 2 and I am at a loss... |

Operating System: Windows Vista - Home Premium PC Experience: Elite PC Guru | Run the game again and when it crashes to the desktop - click CTRL ALT and DEL and see what is hogging the resources, and let us know

Operating System: Windows Vista - Home Premium PC Experience: Elite PC Guru | Right I would turn that Cacheman off - as it may be messing around with what the game runs to check the requirements. If you have installed the latest drivers etc - then all you can do is uninstall the game and try again - are you launching the game from the disk or the shortcut where the program files are?

Operating System: Windows XP - Home Edition PC Experience: Beginner | The cacheman is not the issue - it did not work before that was installed and have reinstaled game twice already and checked it with a tool they have brought out. Judging from other people's comments on other web sites it is quite a widespread problem and a patch is required but the company has just been taken over by another company etc etc etc. There is a Vista solution but you have to start messing about with the registry etc... It is issues like this that are killing PCs as game platforms... |
