PC won't startup PC running XP Professional. My son plugged his iPod into a USB port. The iPod locked up and the PC started to run slowly. He claims he shut it down and now it won't start up.
On startup it shows 'Boot from CDRom' or similar message but then hangs. If I try and re-install XP it goes through the whole process of loading the files, reboots as it should but then goes back to the same 'Boot from CDRom' state after the restart. I also notice then some corruption of characters on the screen. The PC is about 8 years old.
Thanks for any help,
