I think you have finally got it Sean. The game is not able to stretch itself in full screen at such a high resolution and therefore it restarts immediately. For this I recommend you to lower your resolution to 1024 x 768 and run the games. Now I understand that the resolution plays an important role too in the functioning of the games.
