Hi,
My granddaughter has sent me as an attachment on an e-mail a document which is in PCL. Guess who does not have the software to open it?? Me! Can anyone recomend software ( free? ) for me to open it and reply to my Grandaughter?
I have XP home.
Thank you. John :)

I had a quick look, have a look here Printer Command Language - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Printer_Command_Language)
Hello Jude. Try opening the file with OpenPCL Open Source PCL Viewer (http://openpcl.sourceforge.net/). Let us know if it helps or not. :)

Hi,
Have to admit I've never used one of these, a quick Google took me to PCL Reader. Reading the instructions suggests you can open your PCL document and print to any standard printer.
FREE PCLReader Product Registration (http://www.pclreader.com/install/)
Let us know how you go on

Hi,
I down loaded your suggested reader. It did not help.

OK John, what is the exact extension of the file you want to open. It will be the last three or four letters of the filename after the dot. Please let us know that as soon as possible.

Goku, Hi,
The email in question has been deleted from my computer and from my grandaughter's. It said .PCL or .2PCL. I'm not exactly sure which. If the info is too vague, don'y worry. The situation has passed. I just don't like to be beaten by a box of electronics, (still don't) but you've spent enough time on my trivial problem. Thank you very much. :) And thank you to everyone else who have tried to help. CHEERS
John.
